Does the name on booking have to match the person paying for booking with credit card?

Yes, the card holder will have to sign and agree to pay for all the cost associated with the booking.

How can I modify my booking?

Simply give us a call or send through an email from the contact page and we’ll get it sorted.

Is there a daily cap on kilometres?

No, your hire includes unlimited kilometres for all short term rentals

What methods of payment can I use?

Cash, Visa/MasterCard credit and debit cards, and American Express credit cards may be used for payment. We do not accept cheques or diners club. The EFTPOS terminal has a fee of 1.4% on cards.

Do you require a bond/holding deposit when hiring a vehicle?

Yes, we require a $500 bond on all bookings, fully refundable within 24 – 48 hours of drop-off time.

What do I need to bring to the counter to rent a car?

All drivers need to sign the rental agreement and hold a current drivers license. You must present a physical driver’s license. Copies or photos of a driver’s license will not be accepted.

You will also need to bring a credit or debit card for payment. Payment is required at the time of renting the vehicle. All license need to be in english or a translation in english should be done.

What age do I need to be to rent a vehicle?

Drivers between the ages of 21 to 85 years of age who hold a full, unrestricted license may hire a vehicle. P – plate or learner drivers cannot drive rental vehicles. Higher access applies between 21-25 year of age.

Do I need to have an international driver’s license to drive a vehicle in australia?

International drivers permits are required in a number of australian states and territories. There are some exceptions. Customers should check what’s required for each state or territory before arriving to collect their vehicle.

An english licence is still required for states not requiring an international license.?

If your license is not in english then you do require an international drivers license.

How do I amend my booking?

If you booked with us directly and need to amend your booking, please call us on 07 2111 8683 or +61 478 500 197. If your request is not urgent (outside 48 hours) you can email us at admin@vizcarrentals.com.au

What is your cancellation policy?

you will be charged the rental charges for the rental period as booked if:

(I) your booking is cancelled within 24 hours prior to the start of the rental; or
(ii) you fail to notify us of your intended cancellation prior to the start of the rental and fail to pick up the vehicle,
(iii) if the booking is cancelled 7 days (or more) before the pickup date, then you will receive a full refund of the deposit, or any amount paid (not including any credit card administration fee).
(iv) if the booking is cancelled between 1 – 7 days before the pickup date, 20% of the booking value is chargeable as a cancellation fee and the remainder of hire fees (if paid) will be refunded less any credit card fees.
(v) if the booking is cancelled within 24 hours of pickup or the hirer does not collect the vehicle from the vizcarrentals office, then 100% of the booking value is chargeable.
(vi) if you change the pick-up date within the cancellation time frames in (iii) and (iv) above and then you cancel the amended booking; original cancellation fee will apply.
(vii) if you are affected by covid-19 restrictions, you will receive a 100% credit of any amount paid towards a future booking
(viii) if your booking was made via a travel agent, please contact them directly to discuss your options.
(ix) credit must be used for travel within one year from the original pickup date and must be booked under the same name as the original booking. New bookings are subject to availability, new daily rate and booking conditions at the time of booking apply. Credit is non-transferable and new booking must be under the main hirer’s name.

Unless we are able to rent the vehicle to another renter for an equivalent term and rate.

Off-road vehicle policy?

Use of the vehicle on unsealed roads and off road is prohibited at all times, as is use of the vehicle in a prohibited area, including flooded roads, beaches, driving through rivers or streams and any areas prohibited by the police.

Do you hire baby and booster seats?

Yes, you can add a request for a baby or booster seat to your new booking at the time of booking or via email for non-urgent enquiries (outside 48 hours) at admin@vizcarrentals.com.au.

We offer car seats and booster seats at $9.95 per day, each car seat is capped at $60 per rental?

Our rear facing seats are suitable for 0-12 months, please note these are not a capsule type seats however they are suitable for an infant 0-12 months old with the use of manufacturer provided inserts. Our forward facing seats are suitable for children from 12 months up to 4 years of age.

A booster seat is for children 4 years and over. Booster seats are always forward-facing. These will be provided with the vehicle at the time of collection and are usually fitted by us prior to pick-up, however you may need to make final adjustments to ensure straps are fitted correctly for your child.

Can I request a specific make, model or colour?

We will endeavor to provide you with your preferred vehicle. Vehicle make, model and colour are based upon availability and cannot be guaranteed.

What currency are your rates in?

As a business based in australia, all of our rates are in aud.

How many kilometers can I travel during my rental?

We offer unlimited kilometers with all our passenger vehicles for short term rentals

Can I take my car into national parks?

Viz Car Rentals car rentals vehicles are allowed into all national parks provided the roads are not closed due to weather or roads are poorly formed or washed out. Care should be taken when traveling on unsealed roads.

Please check if a national parks pass, or similar is required to be purchased ahead of your arrival.

What do I need to know about toll roads and e-tags?

We take care of this for you! Tolls are processed using licence plate recognition and are automatically added to your booking. There is a $3.45 administration fee for each day that tolls are used.

What do I do if I receive a parking ticket or other infringement?

Parking and speeding fines are the responsibility of the customer. If you receive a parking ticket we recommend you pay this before the due date. A $70 administration fee will be incurred for any infringement that requires reissuing fines into the driver’s name.

What do I do in the event of an accident?

If you require emergency assistance, please dial 000.

As soon as possible, please report the accident to us by calling +61 478 500 197 or 07 2111 8683. Take as much photos of the incident and take license details of all those involved in the incident.

Can I return my vehicle early?

If required, renters can return their vehicle early. Please call our contact centre on 07 2111 8683 or +61 478 500 197 to change the return date/time and via email if non-urgent (outside 48 hours) at admin@vizcarrentals.Com.Au. Please note we don’t offer refunds if dropped off early.

Can I use my mobile phone while driving?

Using a mobile phone whilst driving is illegal in all australian states and territories. If you have a mobile phone with you in your car, it may only be used in a hands-free capacity to make or receive calls, open navigation apps, or play music. If your mobile phone is not mounted and secured in a dock or appropriate hands-free mechanism, then you will not be legally allowed to touch or use the phone. Other functions such as social media, email, and instant messaging for example are also prohibited. If you need to check your phone, you’ll need to pull over in a safe place to do so. Some states also require you to turn off your car before touching your phone.

When will I receive my bond/hold?

We will process the bond refund within 24 – 48 hours after returning the vehicle to your nominated bank account.

I think I left an item in my rental car. How do I get it back?

We take care to search all vehicles when completing our thorough cleaning process. If we find any items of value we will retain them in the drop-off location and attempt to contact you to arrange item collection.

What if I need roadside assistance during my rental?

All vehicles are covered with 24-hour roadside assistance for all mechanical faults with the vehicle. Please contact on +614 78 500 197 or 07 2111 8683 for any assistance

Do I need to re-fuel the vehicle and what fuel should I use?

All vehicles should be provided to you with a full tank of petrol. Please return the vehicles to us the same. A refuelling fee of $35 plus the petrol cost to top up the vehicle to the full tank will be charged. Please note the fuel meter has to be touching the top full line or go beyond. 

Can I smoke in the vehicle?

All our vehicles are non-smoking, smoking or vaping in the vehicles is strictly prohibited. Any violations will result in a cleaning fee of up to $400.

Can I take the vehicles off road or to the snow?

Our vehicles are not permitted to be used off-road or be taken directly to the snow.

Can I take my pets in the vehicle?

Unfortunately, we do not allow animals to be transported in our vehicles. Cleaning charges from $290 will apply if any animal fur or odors are detected in the vehicle.

Can I drive the vehicle anywhere in australia?

You may drive the vehicle in most states and territories however travel is not permitted into or out of the northern territory, western australia and Tasmania. Travel to any destination via barge or ferry transport is not permitted. Vehicles cannot be driven on unsealed roads or in snow. Interstate and long distance fee applies to certain cities and states. 

Can I use the vehicle to tow?

Unfortunately, we do not permit our vehicles to be used for towing purposes.

Can I use someone else’s credit card?

No, the card holder must sign the rental agreement and hold a valid driver’s license. By signing the agreement they agree to have their card charged for any costs associated with the rental.
